The purpose of the Sanctions Law Moot is to foster the study of International Public Law, European law, Sanctions law, International Investment Law and Arbitration and provide a practical training to students for resolving international disputes.
The financial institutions that have been significantly affected with the impact of sanctions on their business marked preference for challenging the lawfulness of sanctions by international investment treaty arbitration that mat serve as another available channel is the reason this method of dispute resolution was selected as the clinical tool to train law students.
There are two crucial phases in the Sanctions law Moot to train advocacy skills: the writing of memoranda for claimant and respondent and the presentation of arguments in oral hearings held before arbitration practitioners and academics.

This award for the general rounds will be won by the individual advocate with the highest average score during these rounds.

It can be awarded to a team or an individual student for its dedication and commitment to the Spirit of the Sanctions Law Moot.
The International Moot Court on Sanctions Law is a complex and comprehensive competition that requires a special and high level of education. Moreover, students who successfully gain the experience that the competition provides are able to become one of the qualified specialists in sanctions law, which will allow them to combine this experience with work. To achieve this goal, we prepare the following events for students:
Knowledge in the field of International Public Law, Sanctions law, European law, as well as International Investment Law and Arbitration. Improving the level of legal English in the areas mentioned above.
Skills in writing memorandum and oral advocacy. It is very important to know what is required of you in the area of challenging sanctions.
Students will be able to participate in master classes by Russian and foreign lawyers on topics related to sanctions law, international investment law and arbitration, as well as their careers. Networking with leading international lawyers in the field of sanctions law and international investment arbitration
